Amalgamation

File relating to an attempt to amalgamate Borrisnafarney parish with Aghnameadle parish in 1912. Contained within the file are five letters and copies of the letters from Benjamin Bloomfield Trench to the secretary of the Representative Church Body, Anthony Maude, 52 St. Stephen's Green, Dublin. The file also contains numerous documents which raise objections to the union of the parishes, such as two copies of a memo listing reasons why Borrisnafarney refuses to support the union and a memo which states that the main objection to union was the financial difficulty that may result from it. Pamphlet from 'The annual meeting of the Diocesan Synod Killaloe and Kilfenora. Also includes Borrisnafarney parish and Dunkerrin Parish Minutes of Borrisnafarney select vestry meeting 28 July 1915.

The majority of the documents in this file concern the 1906-1907 improvements made to Borrisnafarney church. Examples of such records include a letter from Reverand John D Morrow, Rathenny Cottage, Cloughjordan, to Benjamin Bloomfield Trench regarding painting the church a new baptismal font, a new church window and new pews; specifications for alterations to be carried out in the existing church. Also included in the file is a letter from Benjamin Bloomfield Trench, 41 Onslow square, London regarding his hesitations over church improvements, he believes the congregation should have a say and therefore wants to hold a secret ballot. This is followed by a letter from The Rt Rev. Mervyn Archdall, Clarisford, Killaloe, Co. Carlow which states that according to religious law such a ballot would be illegal and therefore would not be honored. The file also covers topics such as sourcing and dedicating stain glass, raising financial funds and design plans.
The file also deal with other repairs the church required. Examples include an estimate from for supplying and fixing new boiler and case Musgrave & company ltd., Belfast, Northern Ireland .A letter from H. Sibthrope & son limited, 33 Molesworth Street, Dublin regarding repairs to the church sent to the Reverand G.A Earle, The Rectory, Dunkerrin, Roscrea.

Trench, Benjamin Bloomfield

Photographs of Loughton house and estate.

Photographs and negatives taken of Loughton house and the surrounding estate. The majority of the photographs are of the exterior of the house and of horses kept in Loughton. The file includes one negative of the interior, photographs of Theodora Trench, Sheelah Lefroy and Langlois Massy Lefroy playing and walking dogs, work being carried out on the estate and a negative of Benjamin Bloomfield Trench on a horse. The file includes a Christmas card from Buffy [?] sent to Theodora containing a photograph taken in Loughton of Theodora and an unidentified young boy.
Also included in the file are six glass plate negatives which show the interior of Borrisnafarney Church, a hunt gathered outside Loughton House and two unknown ladies walking their dogs.

Leases of Siffin, alias Seffin, barony of Ballybritt

Box of leases of Siffin, alias Seffin, barony of Ballybritt, situated on the outskirts of Birr towards Roscrea. The box also includes papers relating to the sale of properties and fee farm grants in Seffin to Edward Dooley and other purchasers.

Workhouse accounts

Two volumes March 1857- September 1870 and 25 March 1871-29 September 1878, of workhouse accounts for the Borrisokane, Kildysart, Nenagh, Parsonstown, and Roscrea Poor Law Unions.

The account books were put together and kept by Henry Trench due to his involvement with the Poor Law Unions.
