Letter to R. H. Moore Esq. Hon. Secretary of the Banagher Fairs & Improvement Committee from Gordon Telford at Greir & MacKay Ltd. Engineers in response to queries regarding the cost per annum to users of electric light. Requests that an exact map of the town be forwarded so that an exact price can be given for an installation.

Moore member of Birr No. 1 Rural District Council stating that a Rural District Council is a local authority under The Electric Lighting Acts and that it is not necessary for them to obtain urban powers for the electric lighting of any part of their district.

Electric lighting in Portarlington

Ms letter of Joseph Dwyer Hon. Sec. of Portarlington Lighting Committee, to R. H. Moore in response to enquiries regarding the installation of electric lighting in Portarlington. He writes that the firm of Foote & Milne London had offered to install a plant of they could get 800 households to commit to installing lamps. He notes 'I would advise you to adopt our procedure as you are not putting any expense on the rates except the street lighting'(4pp). Ms letter of J McCarthy, Secretary of Swinford Rural District Council in response to queries regarding the installation of Electric Lighting in Swinford County Mayo. He writes, 'the scheme has not been in operation sufficiently long to reply fully to to your queries as regards profit but it is estimated that after the first year the undertaking will be a paying one. With ms note of R. H. Moore attached stating estimate of cost to Banagher ' about £2,000 should do'.

Electricity in Banagher (Edmundson's Electricity Corporation)

Five items of correspondence from Edmundson's Electricity Corporation regarding visit and assessment of their engineer to Banagher in connection with the installation of and supply of electricity. Letter of 5th February notes 'we would recommend putting down the Electric Lighting Station at a convenient position in the town and generating electricity by means of a gas engine'. (5pp) with estimate and attached specification of £1,275 (3pp).
Letter of 13th February 1913 to O'Coghlan, committee member requests a further consultation and states 'we went to some trouble in this matter and trust you will bear us in mind, if it is decided to go with it'.
