Accounts, legal documents, correspondence and marketing material relating to the foundation companies of the Williams Group, namely Tullamore Distillery, B. Daly & Co. Ltd., D. E. Williams Ltd., Irish Mist Liqueur Co. Ltd. and other associated companies.
The collection is comprised of artefacts, plans and drawings of the Clashawaun Works (jute spinning mill) and its machinery. The business records include; material relating to the formation of the limited company in 1888; correspondence with directors and partners; notices of meetings and resolutions adopted; some handwritten minutes and material relating to the formation of the limited company to a public company in 1937.
This series is comprised of accounts from the network of retail branch houses which were established by D. E. Williams in the 1890s, and a small amount of material relating to the establishment of Five Star Supermarkets in the 1960s and 1970s.
Bills of account and receipts issued by T. P. & R. Goodbody, Tullamore; Michael Berrill, draper, Tullamore; P. & A. Foy & Sons, cattle salesmen, Tullamore; Gas Purification & Chemical Company. Also includes receipts for paying poor rate, license for a sheep dog and forms of declaration for sheep-dipping.
Softbound copybook Minutes of Banagher Coal Fund Committee. Fist meeting was 10th February 1895. Lists persons donating to fund. Lists also persons in receipt of money to buy coal and turf. Money is also voted to provide blankets for the Poor (18th February (1895). Includes 'blanket list' 27th February 1895 and pages of accounts of Banagher Relief fund at rear vol. Accounts audited.
1912-14 Letters and papers of the 5th Earl concerning his shares in the San Sebastian Development Syndicate and the International Nitrogen and Power Company Ltd; part of the operations of the latter involved a process for cutting peat, and there are a number of letters to the 5th Earl and [Sir Charles Parsons?] on this subject.
