War Pensions Committee Memoranda Book

War Pensions Committee ms Memoranda Book containing draft and copy letters from R. H. Moore Hon. Secretary of Banagher Local War Pensions Committee. Letters chiefly relate to recommendations for acceptance of pension applications and arrangements for the completion of medical reports on applicants.
Contains also requests by Moore for payment for his work carried out on the committee. Letter of 9th May 1918 records the securing of three rooms in Banagher Technical School for the accommodation of Belgian refugees.

W. Callan arranging for settlement of refugee family

Typewritten letter from Walter Callan, Executive Refugee Committee at Secretary's Office, King's County, regarding arrangements for placement of two families of refugees in Banagher and Ferbane. Letter asks for details from Moore as to how much he Banagher committee had raised in subscriptions 'in order to be able to gauge roughly what charge is likely to fall to central funds'.

Letter from Thomas S. Duggan, County Surveyor, to the Secretary, Banagher Parish Council regarding the provision of fire appliances for the town of Banagher and stating that nothing can be done until money is available.

Undated letter from T. J. Kelly, County Commissioner regarding the programme of work of the Parish Councils. Letter states that 'each Parish Council must act for itself and must examine the situation locally'.

Memoranda from T. J. Kelly, Secretary, Offaly County Council requesting schemes of public utility that might be carried out as post emergency employment schemes [some suggestions written on back of letter].
