Sheldon Usher, son of Mister Usher and Elizabeth Neville, was born in the year 1811. His father died when he was very young, and his mother remarried to Sir Edward William Crosbie, 6th Baronet (1794-1860), in 1821. In September of 1824 he wrote his father requesting permission to join the Navy.
Charlotte Jane Shaw, fifth child of Bernard Shaw (1773-1826) and Frances Carr (1781-1871), was born 6 Jan 1809. Her brother, George Carr Shaw (1814-1885) was the father of the famous writer, George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950). Charlotte married Charles Bolton Johnston and they had nine children: Frances Sarah (1830-1908); Agnes Maria (1831-1847); Charles Edward (1832-1900); George; Rhoda Charlotte (d. 1839); Florence (1842-1921); Madelaine Harriet (1843-1922); Dalkeith Holmes 1851-1885; and Thomas Gregg (d. 1848). Her husband, Charles, died on 15 May 1872. Charlotte Jane Johnston died on 22 Jan 1890.
Florence Johnston, sixth child of Charles Bolton Johnston (1802-1872) and Charlotte Jane Shaw (1809-1890), was born 5 Mar 1842. She married Major George Francis Gamble (1837-1912). They had a daughter, Cléonice Gamble, in 1884. Florence Gamble died 28 Feb 1921.
Sophie Stephens was daughter of Doctor Stephens and Sophie Hyland.
Captain Thomas Kelly of Maddenstown, County Kildare, was appointed Fort Major of Gravesend and Tilbury Fort on 13 January 1814.
Eva Aileen Marsh was the daughter of Francis Marsh (1877-1927) and Elinor McCormick. She was the niece of John Monteith and Eva Elizabeth Monteith.
