Special Diet and Stimulant Book (1943)

Register recording patients names and the articles of food or stimulants allowed on a daily basis during admission in the hospital. The pre-printed template stipulates that 'All entries must be written by the Medical Officer himself.' The MO certifies by signing a declaration on each page. The items specified include: Beef, Bread, Butter, Eggs, Milk, Mutton chops, Tea, Sugar, Rice, Potatoes. The columns recording stimulants such as Brandy, Porter, Whiskey, Wine etc are repurposed for food articles such as Jam, Fish, Cocoa, and Chicken.

Sequentially recorded cases from 924 to 2060, indexed by surname. Case profiles record the name and address of patient; name of the medical attendant; insurance details; recommendation of the T. B. Officer; the nature and duration of treatment; dates of admission and discharge; payments by Offaly County Council to medical doctors. Annotated with ages and dates of death during treatment.
