Newspaper clippings Irish Farmers Union, Banagher

Notebook containing newspaper clippings of minutes of Banagher Branch of the Irish Farmers Union. Deals with such matters as setting of Fair days, fixing a price for barley. With memo from Offaly County Council acknowledging application for Relief Grant Scheme and encouragement of trade in the towns of Banagher and Birr.

War Pensions Committee Memoranda Book

War Pensions Committee ms Memoranda Book containing draft and copy letters from R. H. Moore Hon. Secretary of Banagher Local War Pensions Committee. Letters chiefly relate to recommendations for acceptance of pension applications and arrangements for the completion of medical reports on applicants.
Contains also requests by Moore for payment for his work carried out on the committee. Letter of 9th May 1918 records the securing of three rooms in Banagher Technical School for the accommodation of Belgian refugees.

Newspaper clippings - school, railway and Banagher Great Fair

This scrapbook comprises mostly of pasted in newspaper clippings on a diverse range of topics.
It includes, for example an account of visit to Banagher Boys National School of Rev Dr Monaghan, PP, Dean of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise.
There is a printed petition to Great Southern and Western Railways regarding proposed discontinuance of services from Banagher to Clara, and several published letters relating to promotion of Banagher Great Fair.
Includes also, letter dated 15th May 1906 on the importance of compulsory education and account of the funeral of the Rev. M. J. Moore S. J. in October 1936.

Henry Trench letters

Letters sent to Henry Trench between 1853 and 1879.

The majority of the letters in this sub-series concern business matters. However personal issues such as Henry's concern over an unsuitable engagement are also covered.
Henry was also the most involved of the Trench family in Offaly and Tipperary communities. As a result of this local affairs are covered in some of these letters.

Minutes of Parsonstown Town Commissioners, recording the proceedings and decisions made at monthly meetings, special meetings and financial meetings.

Workhouse accounts

Two volumes March 1857- September 1870 and 25 March 1871-29 September 1878, of workhouse accounts for the Borrisokane, Kildysart, Nenagh, Parsonstown, and Roscrea Poor Law Unions.

The account books were put together and kept by Henry Trench due to his involvement with the Poor Law Unions.

Photographs and negatives taken of Loughton house and the surrounding estate. The majority of the photographs are of the exterior of the house and of horses kept in Loughton. The file includes one negative of the interior, photographs of Theodora Trench, Sheelah Lefroy and Langlois Massy Lefroy playing and walking dogs, work being carried out on the estate and a negative of Benjamin Bloomfield Trench on a horse. The file includes a Christmas card from Buffy [?] sent to Theodora containing a photograph taken in Loughton of Theodora and an unidentified young boy.
Also included in the file are six glass plate negatives which show the interior of Borrisnafarney Church, a hunt gathered outside Loughton House and two unknown ladies walking their dogs.
