Lease of Hawkswood to Daniel Delaney

Lease of part of the lands of Hawkswood from Henry Lord Digby to Daniel Delaney for three lives from 1784, at the yearly rate of £86-10-0.
Including 'A map of the lands of Hawkswood in the King's County the Estate of The Right Honourable Henry Lord Digby now in the tenure of Mr Delaney. Surveyed in 1785 by Pat Roe', hand coloured, scale of 40 Perches to an Inch.

Introductory Report 1857

Introductory report submitted by Trench to Lord Digby, following his arrival on the estate on 1 June 1857. He notes that he spent the first three weeks with his son, T. W. Trench, in Tullamore, and assessed the estate on horseback during this period. Report contains a general sketch of the natural features of the estate; the extent of arable pasture, plantations or bog; the issue of rent collection and methods of valuation; and a survey of the woodlands and their ownership. A post script to the report begins on page 48 and contains further commentary on the state and extent of schooling in the area; use of the Union Workhouse; the levels of pauperism and general notes on the cottier class of tenantry. Also includes a list of current leaseholders on the estate.

Workhouse accounts

Two volumes March 1857- September 1870 and 25 March 1871-29 September 1878, of workhouse accounts for the Borrisokane, Kildysart, Nenagh, Parsonstown, and Roscrea Poor Law Unions.

The account books were put together and kept by Henry Trench due to his involvement with the Poor Law Unions.

Loughton sale advertisements.

File of documents relating to an 1872 attempt to sell Loughton house.
Included in this file are an advertisement for sale of the house and a map of the house division of Loughton dated 6 March 1872.

Photographs of Loughton house and estate.

Photographs and negatives taken of Loughton house and the surrounding estate. The majority of the photographs are of the exterior of the house and of horses kept in Loughton. The file includes one negative of the interior, photographs of Theodora Trench, Sheelah Lefroy and Langlois Massy Lefroy playing and walking dogs, work being carried out on the estate and a negative of Benjamin Bloomfield Trench on a horse. The file includes a Christmas card from Buffy [?] sent to Theodora containing a photograph taken in Loughton of Theodora and an unidentified young boy.
Also included in the file are six glass plate negatives which show the interior of Borrisnafarney Church, a hunt gathered outside Loughton House and two unknown ladies walking their dogs.
