Lemanaghan schoolhouse was built in the late 19th century and consisted of two rooms with fireplaces. An extension was added to the rear of the building in the late 1950s. The school was closed in 1972 and left unused for approximately 20 years, during which time it fell into disrepair.

Ballykilmurry school was a two teacher school, opened in 1910. This school closed in 1966 when a new three teacher school was built on the present site in Ballinamere.

Bloomhill National School was built by John Ennis of Ballinahown Court in 1863. It was closed in 1982, and the present-day St. Colmcille’s National School opened.

The Convent of Mercy School in Kilbeggan was opened on 10th January 1880. In September 1997, the Convent of Mercy National School and Kilbeggan Boys National School amalgamated to form Scoil an Chlochair (The school of the convent).

Mainly contain registers and roll books concerning, respectively, the registration and the daily attendance of pupils; and also smaller amounts of other records such as daily attendance statistical report books and inspectors books.
The registers record a pupil's name, age, and date of birth, and the address and occupation of parents.
