  1. ‘Burn's Cenotaph, Allaway, near Ayr. The foundation of this monument was laid on 25th January 1820, the anniversary of the poet's natal day. It contains a bust of the poet by Park, and an interesting case of relics, including the Bibles presented by Burns to Highland Mary, one of them containing a lock of her hair’.
  2. ‘Tam O'Shanter and Souter Johnny from the original and far famed statues by "Thom" now in the Burns Cenotaph, Ayr’.
  3. ‘The town of Ayr. The Wallace Tower and High Street Ayr. The drowsy dungeon clock had numbered two And Wallace Tower had sworn the fact was true. The Brigs O' Ayr’.
