Personal diary and almanack of Captain Maxwell Fox, Annaghamore House. The diary records short, day-to-day accounts of January to October of 1868, the year Fox was appointed High Sheriff of King's County. Entries to the diary comment mainly on personal matters and activities of his routine as a landowner, with occasional reference to national and local events.
Personal matters referred to include socialising amongst a small circle of landed neighbours, relations and professionals in the town of Tullamore (names occurring include: Coote, Ridley, Marshall, Waller, Biddulph); attending religious services; light farm duties; shooting and hunting; card games.

Entries contain occasional reference to his duties as High Sheriff during the Spring and Summer Assizes. An example of this is recorded across two days, dated 4 and 5 March, "Drove to Tullamore on car at 8.45, found carriage all ready so went with Sub-Sheriff in Clarence to meet Chief Justice Monaghan [sic] at Clara station. Brough him and Lefroy back to their lodgings in Tullamore, then drove home to luncheon after which cutting hedge along back lane to Lambs... Went in brougham to Tullamore at 8.35 attended at Station and received Chief Justice (Whiteside) drove him to his lodgings and attended by mounted police. At 11.15 attended both judges to Court House in Clarence and pair. In Court with Chief Justice until 4. Visited G. Jury luncheon and some. - Dined with judges and met Curran, Molloy, Dames and Montgomery. Home at 11."

Inventory of silver and electro-plate at Rathrobin taken in 1907 for purposes of insurance by Lt Col. Middleton Westenra Biddulph of Rathrobin, Tullamore. Handwritten volume details household items from Biddulph's residence at Rathrobin House, often noting
the provenance of items e.g. "These were given to Vera on her wedding by Lord & Lady Armstrong".

Towards the end of the volume, there are handwritten notes on the Marsh and Biddulph family pedigree, as well as list of deeds, wills, and marriage settlements kept by Biddulph.

Correspondence, accounts and memoranda of Henry F. Brenan, solicitor, of Hoey & Denning Solicitors, Tullamore, relating to the 1923 general election. Matters referred to include the appointment of Brenan as election agent for Daniel Williams (Mountmellick), Francis Bulfin (Derrinlough), Patrick J. Egan (Tullamore) and Seán Ua Ceallaigh (Edenderry). Also refers to the issue of university electors, the collection of funds, subscriptions and election expenses. Also includes preparatory material for the election, correspondence concerning the appointment of E. J. Delahunty as law agent for Cumann na nGaedhal candidates, lists of personating agents, and results from the poll recording Bulfin (5689 votes) and Davin (6323 votes) elected.

Minute books, accounts book, reports, burial board minute book, and ancillary material relating to the administration of Parsonstown Town Commissioners.

Minute books, accounts ledgers, reports, workhouse registers, and ancillary material relating to the creation, administration, and eventual dissolution of Parsonstown Union from its establishment in May 1839 to its dissolution in 1925. The union’s Board of Guardians were responsible for overseeing several functions of local government; primarily the care of the poor, including the setting up, financing and running of the workhouse, the creation of dispensary districts, assisted migration and outdoor relief.

The main set of records are the minute books of the Boards of Guardians, comprising 97 volumes. Other material is financial in nature, such as the financial minute books and repayment of relief account book. Three registers of the Parsonstown (Birr) workhouse survive; 1842-1843, 1849-1850 and loose pages from a 1912 registers. As the Board of Guardians also oversaw the dispensary districts in the union, there is a ledger relating to the (?) district, as well as a copy of the lease for the Kinnitty dispensary residences.

Parsonstown Union’s area of operation covered 234 square miles from two counties: from Offaly (King’s County) – Banagher, Drumcullen, Eglish, Ferbane, Frankfort, Kilcoleman, Kinnety, Lemanagan, Letter, Lusmagh, Seirkyrans, Parsonstown, Shannon Bridge, Shannon Harbour and Tissarin. From County Tipperary – Aglishcloghane, Ballingarry, Dorha, Lockeen, Lorha and Uskeane.

Photocopy of the lease of Lady Emily Alfred Howard-Bury to the Trustees for the Conn of the Hundred Battles No351 Branch of the Irish National Foresters Benefit Society for land and premises beside the Market Place and Market Square, Tullamore, known as 'The Shambles'. Terms for 99 years and subject to the yearly rent of £60. Includes map of premises.
